The Bendix DA-1203A motor driven Antenna Drive unit scans and stabilizes the flat plate antenna array in 120° or 60° sectors. Stabilization in accordance with pitch and roll signals from the aircraft vertical gyro and control panel Tilt control that allows the tilt to be selectable ± 15° from horizontal. The DA-1203A is used in the RDR-1600 Radar System which consists of a radar Control Panel the CP-113, a Receiver-Transmitter the RT-1601 and an Antenna Drive unit with antenna the DA-1203A. The DA-1203A's antenna array can vary between several sizes: round 10 inches, rounds 12 inches, round 18 inch and rectangular 18 inches by 12 inches. The DA-1203A has variations between inverted and standard mounting including some units with counterweights which are necessary for the larger antenna arrays to be attached. The DA-1203A positions the antenna array in azimuth and elevation axis.
